About this project
I manage many online and technical operations for a small independent home rental business based in London. I firstly converted an old Drupal installation into a more modern WordPress website. Allowing for the client to take control of their content easier. I also moved the site into 2013 ensuring its responsive design so that whether you look at the site on a mobile device or a desktop computer, it still looks great, without any zooming in or out.
This is currently an ongoing project and I assist with a number of other technical requirements for the company as well.
Being kind to users…
One of the more bespoke features that I’ve added into the new site include a portfolio manager. The company used to send (20MB+) PDF documents to clients. This, I suggested, was not the most user-friendly way to do it, not least because clients might not be able to receive such a large attachment via email, but also it was taking up lots of time to upload to the email server each week.
Now, using the system I developed, clients get sent a download link, and can download them directly from a unique URL meaning the company can track download stats.
In the pipeline…
Currently working on a version 2 of the website.
